Breath as a movement and a stillness. Breath as a social movement. Biorhythm as music of embodiment.
The bell as a reminder, the bell as a warning.
Algorithms and biorhythms converge in breath. A digital algorithm interacts with embodied biorhythms. The algorithm performs, and it is enacted in the service of deeper breath, of meditative breath, of medical diagnosis, of the harmony and musicality of breath. A small hourly bell emitted by a breath reminder app contributes to embodied well being.
In 2020 a convergence of “breathe” and its antithesis - “I can’t breathe” highlighted deep and problematic rifts. Police brutality underscored the incongruence of privileged individualism with the sustenance of collective breath.
The film “Algorithm:Biorhythm:Breath” is a digital remix of convergences around breath. Opening with an attendance to substantive breath, “Biorhythm:Algorithm:Breath” is a reminder bell space for both individual embodied inspiration and hope towards collective fantastical connection.
