THE LAST LULLABY (30 mins)
Are we ever ready for death? Western culture associates death with finality and the macabre, and most of us ignore the only reliable truth until a last, fearful chapter. With hospitals and the medical field ill equipped to help us face death with equanimity and grace, there is a growing community of professionals and volunteers who advocate for conscious dying, death doulas who dedicate their time to those facing the threshold.
“The Last Lullaby” is an heuristic cine-essay focussing on Blessing, a soul midwife and threshold singer whose lifework has been to chaperone people to their last breath. The film breaks taboo by gazing into the sun, asking whether facing death can be an exercise in creativity.
